What is play therapy?

Play Therapy utilizes play, the natural language of children, and the therapeutic relationship to provide a safe, consistent environment in which a child can experience full acceptance, empathy, and understanding from the counselor and process the inner experiences and feelings through play and symbols.
EMDR is a directive approach to treating trauma. As we process the repressed memories in a safe environment they emerge until we work through them, to where they no longer cause distress to the client as they remember the event.
